The Weather Station

The Software

How does it work?

Uploading to the Website

Wired Davis Vantage Pro weather station which has:-

Anemometer (for wind speed and direction)

Barometer - to measure pressure

External/Internal Humidity sensor

External/Internal Temperature sensor

Rain measurement gauge

Solar & UV Sensors - to record sunshine hours

Weather Display, is created by Brian Hamilton. This software can record many aspects of weather trends and can include tidal information, moon phases, windrun, wind chill factors, dew points as well as recording and keeping archival data since the station was installed. Updates to this software are frequent, and additional facilities are included onto this site as they come available.

The sensors are erected on a mast and the data is sent from to the weather station console. From here, a cable is linked from the weather station  to a computer. The Weather Display software interprets this data, which in turn is uploaded onto this website. The computer needs to be left on 24/7, and therefore back-up facilities are incorporated in the event of power failure to the computer and weather station. For extreme power failure or power down of the computer, a data logger is connected to the weather station to store the data that is captured from the weather station, which can be uploaded back into the computer if need be.

Although the data is captured every minute, it is only uploaded to this site at differing intervals.
